The book was a very honest and relatable book about romantic relationships. I loved how he talked about the cycle that many women find themselves in giving sex for the reason of seeking to receive love from a man, and yet not getting that. It is so vitally important that women of all ages know that there are men out there like the author rooting for us to make the right decisions and value ourselves the way that God has made us which requires us as women not to compromise our worth. If a woman buys this book for no other reason but to be encouraged to make the best decisions for herself because she is worthy of the best, it is worth it. Additionally, the author shares some insight on how finances should be viewed in the dating relationship and several excellent questions to ask male suitors that protect women and assist us in weeding out men who would otherwise waste our time. This book is easy to read and understand and quick to finish. More importantly, this book re-affirms the idea that traditional ideals about relationships, such as having communicated expectations, are still worthy of respect and honor. He explains why current society's dating philosophies, such as men are hunters, is fraught with fallacies and fictions. As a female, I was able to garner information about how men think about money, disagreements, a woman's worth and more! I do wish that the chapters were longer and look forward to reading more! But I enjoyed the takeaways. the helpful information, and questions. Thus, my rating!
Outdated Rethinking How Men Date Women is a unique relationship book that focuses on what happens before two people end up in a relationship. So many of the challenges that happens in a relationship results from a poor start. In this book, Derek takes on the oftentimes confusing topic of dating, addressing topics like expectations, going into new relationships with old wounds, and gender roles.
Although his book challenges many of the societal norms we, as a whole, have fallen into, he does so in a way that is eye-opening and not preachy or judgmental. This is a short book, but certainly not one that the reader will want to rush through, if permanent and lasting results are what he or she is looking for. Each chapter ends with questions to ponder.
For years, Derek has shared relationship nuggets on an informal platform. I was hoping he’d tackle the subject on a deeper level and was very glad when I heard he’d written this book. As with his other writings, he did not disappoint. This is not the typical book where the male writer takes no responsibility for elements men sometimes bring into a situation that aids in the downfall of the relationship. Instead, he addresses the flawed thinking and errors of both sexes in a way that challenges how we’ve done things in the past. He urges us to try a different approach in order to get more lasting, and less hurtful, results.
As with his other messages, he brings what he calls a “Biblical World View” to the topics he expounds upon. This is wonderful for those of the Christian faith. I did, however, wonder if those who were not of that faith would be able to relate to his teachings. To me the information is too good to be limited to just a select group of people.
I look forward to Derek having a larger platform to share his knowledge on relationships from a male perspective.

This book is both beneficial and relationship altering. It is a excellent tool for guiding men and women in the right direction for a successful union. Great work!
Excellent book I enjoyed the topic on Great Expectation and Going Dutch are my most favorite chapters. In review of this book I must say that, Mr. Sanders leaves no room for guess work there's an old quote " that which is understood need not be explained ".
Shout out to Derek Q Sanders. I've just completed your book. You have no idea the war that's been going on inside of me. Thank you for speaking the truth it helped to set me straight and reaffirmed a made a good decision and choice. Thanks for sharing your wisdom. The book is short, sweet and straight to the point. Points to consider really allows the reader to think regarding their decisions choices and mindset.
